Ethyl acetate is a colorless and transparent liquid with low toxicity, sweet taste, and pungent odor when the concentration is high. It is volatile, sensitive to air, and can absorb moisture, causing it to slowly hydrolyze and exhibit an acidic reaction.  Miscible with chloroform, ethanol, acetone and ether, soluble in water (10%ml/ml).
